Yesterday I was invited down to join the owner of Broke Little Rich Girl Inc as well as a team of photographers and models shooting for Style Week. As I walked into Market Square, I immediately noticed the pink, white and black truck with the company’s adorable logo and could not wait to take a peek inside…
As the models had their makeup prepped in the van, the locals couldn’t hold themselves back:
“What is this? Can we go shopping now? I love this! Good luck to you!”
Samantha Lugo was inspired to start her own mobile boutique after visiting the more fashionable parts of the country, including California and New York. She wanted to bring Pittsburgh a unique way to shop – the high class feel of a boutique with the convienience of a traveling to you. After launching her dream with the help of her husband and family friends, her business is surely on it’s way to success. But the road wasn’t easy.
“This big truck used to be blue! The interior isn’t finished, we still have to put crown molding up,” Said Lugo. “But everything will be ready for the launch.”
Post makeup, we all gathered in Market Square, on BLVD of the Allies and onto Smithfield for the shoot.
There was tons of energy, and lots of laughter, even from the models. All the while, owner Samantha Lugo reached out to her public and oversaw the fun shoot.
On Saturday, July 20th in the Strip District, BLRG Inc will officially debut. The truck will hold the work of local (and not so local) designers, including Dona Jo Fitwear, which Allyn Lewis & I saw live in action at Bikinis and Martinis (check out the post here!). The truck will also be stocked with accessories, including handmade clutches from Singapore (see below) and Hong Kong.
Lugo mentioned home parties, “I’ll just pull my truck up into the driveway!” Meanwhile I think to myself, “This is better than online shopping…”
