Last night at the New Hazlett Theatre in Pittsburgh, Laced Apparel hosted the second fashion show featuring local designers, simply titled “The Show”. So I put on my sparkly dress, pulled up my hair and made my way to the North Side.
At 6 pm, Gold and Platinum VIP members enjoyed a light cocktail hour in the lobby before doors opened to general admission an hour later. The Show started at 8 pm and an displayed an assortment of local designers work as it was brought to life on the runway. I took a seat in the second row, head on with the catwalk. I live tweeted the entire show, which you can see at @burghfashion.
Laced Apparel, MAW, Alicia Akrie, Brown Sugar, Arie Bella Couture, Kid Rich, Cherish by Cherie, Phirivon, TASTE, Sofiya Mosley, Unique Impressions & Windy’s Boutique adorned models with a cocktail of high-end urban, couture and streetwear fashions.
The crowd had a strong sense of energy, some even participating in a “work off” on stage between designers. [Check out footage on my Vine account Steel City Fashion].
Without a doubt, my most memorable moment from last night was the model who literally slayed on stage to Tom Ford by Jay Z. The model stomped in a pair of high-waisted cut offs, bejewled in tons of gold and white sparkles. With lips painted black, she was a vision of a true video vixen with a sweet mix of high fashion.
The show was a spectacular night for an underground community of fashion that continues to grow here in Pittsburgh. I can’t wait to see more work by these designers and definitely will be attending The Show 2k14.
